Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.

Observation Checklist

Interpret carpet tile installation requirements from job and manufacturer instructions and calculate the quantities of materials required 
Identify hazards relating to the work site, work practices, materials, tools and equipment, and check risk treatments are in place and operating 
Select and check all required tools and equipment are ready to use, and organise to fix any deficiencies according to workplace procedures 
Gather the carpet tiles, adhesives, trims and other materials required by job instructions, and check they meet quality requirements and are prepared and ready to install according to manufacturer instructions, product labels and safety data sheets 
Confirm the subfloor is clean and suitable for installing the carpet tiles, and fix or report any deficiencies according to workplace procedures 
For direct stick laying, apply a primer to the subfloor that suits the type of tiles being installed 
Establish the starting point and mark out working lines 
Apply adhesive to the subfloor according to the manufacturer instructions, product labels, safety data sheets and workplace procedures 
Install the carpet tiles according to workplace procedures 
Measure, mark, cut and install carpet tiles as required 
Install finishing strips and finish installing the carpet tiles according to workplace procedures 
Check the carpet tiles are installed correctly according to manufacturer installation instructions, the relevant Australian standards and quality requirements, and fix any deficiencies 
Clean up the work area, identify items for recycling and dispose of waste 
Identify, tag and report any damage to equipment and tools 
Check, clean and do routine maintenance on equipment and tools and store them and unused materials 
Complete task outcome documentation
